Will Be Armed, Russian Anger

Russia criticized the EU's decision to allow the delivery of weapons to the Syrian opposition. According to Russia, it will only damage the peace negotiations to end the Syrian conflict.

"The actions of the West could undermine peace initiatives at the Geneva conference. Decision is also a decision that is not valid because they were sending weapons to non-state authorities. Was clearly contrary to international law," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, quoted by the Associated Press, Wednesday (05/29/2013).

As we all know the EU decision-making is done simultaneously with the Russians that would send the S-300 missiles to the Syrian government. Israel was immediately threatened bombardment to Russian missiles if the weapons were in Syria.

Syrian opposition faction had been long waiting for the delivery of weapons from the West. They desperately need anti-tank guns and anti-aircraft combat vehicles belonging to confront forces of President Bashar al-Assad.

Decision legalizing the shipment is a matter that is strongly supported Britain and France. But they reaffirmed, there will be no deliveries of weapons prior to the conference in Geneva, Switzerland, to discuss the issue.

"Peaceful dialogue is a priority, we will work hard at the Geneva conference and we will not send weapons to anybody," said British Foreign Secretary William Hague.

Syrian opposition faction also has yet to confirm his presence in Geneva for the conference. However, some parties argue, they can be persuaded to be present when they lured the shipment.
