Palestinian Rely on U.S. To Solutions for Peace


Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said the Palestinians had been relying on the United States Secretary of State John Kerry to restore peaceful dialogue with Israel. Erekat also thinks, two-state solution is now starting to change after Kerry led the U.S. State Department. 


In front of the Committee of the United Nations (UN), Erekat again raised the question of settlements and detention of Palestinians by Israel. Erekat reiterated, Israel and Palestine dialogue will not begin before the two problems solved.

"We do not see any eligibility to start a dialogue," Erekat said, as quoted by Reuters on Tuesday (05/21/2013).

"Make no mistake, we really put all our efforts to see the success of Kerry (a mediator in Israel and Palestine. We will do anything to it a success, he was also a hard worker," he said.

Erekat added that Kerry so far has been met with President Mahmoud Abbas over five times. Erekat also very familiar with Kerry, they often hold talks on the phone.

Kerry certainly visit Jerusalem and Ramallah on Thursday and Friday this week. Former U.S. presidential candidate will be the mediator dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis. Kerry was scheduled to meet with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah II in Jordan.

As is known, the Palestinian crave independent country with the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem as its capital. The area will be used as a residence for the Palestinian Arabs whose numbers 2.7 million.
