U.S. Want to Send Weapons to Terrorists, Russia Confused

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West about the dangers of the distribution of weapons to the Syrian opposition. Putin also wondered why the United States (U.S.) desperate to do that though considered one of the Syrian opposition faction as a terrorist group.

"If the United States recognizes a Syrian opposition group, Al Nusra, as a terrorist, how could they send weapons to the group that, what role they play (in the Syrian conflict)?" Putin said, when they host German Chancellor Angela Merkel, was quoted as saying by the Times of Israel, Saturday (06/22/2013).

Putin also defended himself over the country's decision to sell arms to the Syrian government. It did not violate international law. Putin said the departure of President Bashar al-Assad from power in Syria will cause a power vacuum.

"If Assad backward political vacuum will occur, who will fill the vacuum? Terrorist organizations that why. Nobody wants to see this thing, and how the right way to avoid this problem?" Putin continued.

"The reason for Assad to use his weapon to attack its own citizens could be accepted simply because they are fighting Assad had crossed the line. They no longer like the Syrians, they have to be trained and armed militants perfectly," he added.

Criticism of Putin appeared right after the Los Angeles Times claimed that the U.S. deliberately held special training for the opposition faction in late 2012. Exercise was guided directly by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). (sbmptn)
