Former President of Pakistan Official Arrested on Murder

Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf formally arrested on suspicion of ordering the murder of politicians Baluchistan, Akbar Bugti in 2006. The arrest is the order of the anti-terror court of Pakistan. 


"He (Musharraf) has been formally arrested for the murder of Bugti. Court Anti-Terror will hold it for 14 days after it is returned to the house, to live under house arrest," said Musharraf's lawyer, Ahmed Raza Kasuri, as quoted RINF, Saturday (06/15/2013).

Musharraf served as the President of Pakistan when Bugti. At that time, Bugti known as the main political leader of Balochistan province of Pakistan and killed when a military assault in August 2006.

Kasuri added, the police from the capital of Balochistan, Quetta already interrogation against Musharraf. Quetta police interrogation had been completed it on Thursday, June 13th last.

Currently, Musharraf is still under house arrest in Islamabad on association in some criminal cases. One important case is the murder of Benazir Bhutto.

Bhutto was killed in a bomb attack on December 27, 2007 after campaigning in Rawalpindi. Musharraf was accused of failing to provide protection against Bhutto, especially after Bhutto returned from exile, October 18, 2007 last.

In addition, Musharraf also accused of illegally applying house arrest judges who served in Pakistan after firing Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Musharraf is considered to violate the constitution because the judges ordered the arrest. (sbmptn)
