Just Two Weeks Had Wanted To Resign

Rami Hamdallah Palestinian Prime Minister submitted his resignation to President Mahmoud Abbas. In fact, Hamdallah recently inaugurated two weeks ago.


Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas appointed a little-known academics as prime minister. Professor of English graduates will replace Salam Fayyad had stepped down.

Rami Hamdallah derived from Fatah faction has now officially become the head of the Palestinian government. But, the gentleman had absolutely no experience in government or politics.

Hamdallah reportedly argued with Abbas. He does not like his authority is limited in performing their duties as prime minister.

"There are powers of intervention in which I have," the statement in the official account Hamdallah on the Facebook site, as quoted by Reuters on Friday (06/21/2013).

Palestinian cabinet is dominated by politicians from Fatah, while Hamdallah an independent politician. Fatah dominance also was criticized by Hamas. They call such dominance is not in accordance with the spirit of political reconciliation in Palestine.

"The resignation of Hamdallah shows the dominance of one party will not solve the problems faced by Palestinians. The only way is to uphold the reconciliation agreement, "said Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.

Hamdallah replaces Salam Fayyad, who resigned April. Just like Hamdallah, Fayyad also withdrew because of feuding with Abbas.

It is not known whether Abbas would accept the resignation request of Hamdallah. Abbas is now busy planning a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States (U.S.), John Kerry. The U.S. is willing to continue to encourage the Palestinians to resume negotiations with Israel. (sbmptn)
