Turkish PM: Similar protests also occurred in the European Union

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the Turkish government adopts Islam is against violence. Erdogan reiterated that he was very open to "democratic demands" presented by the protesters in his country.


"We are against terrorism, violence, vandalism, and other acts that threaten freedom. I was open to anyone who wants to file charges democratically," Erdogan said in a speech on television shows, as quoted by The Nation, Saturday (06/08/2013).

"I know what the meaning of environmentalists, being an environmentalist means it does not support vandalism. Becoming an environmentalist also should not kill other people," he said.

So far, the medical officer reported that thousands of Turkish protesters were injured when police fired tear gas and water cannons at them. Erdogan government often criticized the European Union for Turkey claimed police violence against the demonstrators.

A number of partner countries Turkey, especially in the west also criticized the handling of demonstrations by the Turkish Government. But Erdogan unremitting self-defense, and reminded them of similar perisitwa ever occur in the other Western European countries. "The protest has already happened in the UK, France, Germany, and most of them are in Greece. Everything is state-EU member states," he said.

Muslim Brotherhood politician was also likened demonstrations in the country such as Occupy Wall Street movement in the United States (U.S.) in action in 2011. As is known, the Wall Street demonstration also led to adverse effects on city traffic as well as business sector.
