"Iran's Election Results Shows People Want Change"

President of the United States (U.S.), Barack Obama issued his own opinion about the events that took place the Iranian presidential election on June 14. According to Obama, the election result showing the Iranian people want to move in the other direction. 


"I think the Iranian people want to move in a different direction. They reject hard-liners and scholars who can not afford to compromise on any thing," Obama said, as quoted by PBS, on Tuesday (06/18/2013).

"Obviously many Iranians want their country's involvement in the international world in a more positive," he continued.

Asked about the future in the hands of Hassan Rouhani, according to Obama it is fitting to wait for the situation of political developments in Iran's post-election. Obama realizes that the supreme leader still plays a key role in determining the policies of Iran.

"Now, Rouhani who won the election. I think it indicates the approach in the approach and answer the questions about his country. Yet we all know that the system in Iran, the supreme leader will take important decisions," said Obama.

Hassan Rouhani won the Iranian presidential election after obtaining approximately 50.76 per cent. As a moderate cleric, Rouhani got a big boost from the Iranian people who want change. Rouhani victory can not be separated from the withdrawal of candidates from other Iranian reformist Mohammad Reza Aref.

Figures behind the man graduated Glasgow Caledonian University is not small. Rouhani supported by former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Akbar as Hashemi Rafsanjani.

The media is calling Rouhani as a moderate and reformist figure. However, some analyzes estimate, Rouhani not presenting any reform proposal to Iran.

In fact, Rouhani is the supreme leader of Iran's loyalists since long. Himself into the membership of the Supreme Council of National Security of Iran since 1989. He also had served as Iran's nuclear negotiator from 2003 to 2005. (sbmptn)
