Intimidation and violence feared coloring Malaysian Election 2013. According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), most of the violence was carried out by the Malaysian authorities and supporters of opposition supporters.
HRW urged political leaders in Malaysia to oversee their
supporters. Supervision specifically should be done so that Elections Malaysia on May 5 is not marred by riots.
According to Malaysian police reports, violence continues to be experienced by both the governing coalition, Barisan Nasional and koalisisi opposition, Pakatan Rakyat. Ahead of the elections, the violence continued and even increased.

"Election violence threatens the right of all Malaysians to give their choice. Political leaders should demonstrate their commitment to a democratic election. Political leaders should take action against members and supporters of those who commit acts of violence," said HRW's Asia director Phil Robertson affairs, such as The Bangkok Post quoted on Friday (05/03/2013).
According to the findings of HRW, violence continued to increase after the start of the election campaign since April 20. Besides fight between two rival political groups, violence is also experienced by some local and foreign media operating in the neighbor country.
HRW also urged Malaysian police to conduct a thorough investigation of the attacks experienced by the two political groups. In addition, the Malaysian Government is also required to provide access to information to the public without any interruption.
